Pack your bags?

Hello Bohren Trainers!

[livejournal.com profile] beansalad and I have been thinking, and we've also discussed with a couple players the possibility of moving the game to LiveJournal. Despite my fundamental disagreement with their business practices and the way they treat their customer base, the bald fact of it is that LiveJournal is where the role-players are. Here's what we're thinking we'll do.

- All the Bohren communities will be re-created over on LiveJournal. We will not be starting the game over. I know a lot of you are very fond of your CR and it doesn't make sense to hit the reset button just because the place we're playing has changed.

- We'll put up one post in the log comm and one post in the channel comm that has a directory of all old posts, for backreading purposes.

- Once we get everything up, we'd like for you guys to re-post your applications, just to see who's still here and who we've lost. You're already in the game so it's not re-applying, just posting everything in one place so we can make sure the taken list is up to date.

We would like a yea or nay from you before we go forward. While we think this is a fabulous idea (personal feelings about LJ's evil corporate owners aside), our primary concern is that you are having fun playing here.

Comment with Yea or Nay in the subject line. You can explain your answer if you want, but really this is just a way to do a poll without a paid account.

Thank you,
- Bohren Mods

I'm all for it. LJ is where the RPing is, and DW is just... not it. It might be ideal, it might be a fantastic environment for it, but the bare fact is, there's not enough people willing to uproot for viable RPing. Hell, even LOVESPHERE went to LJ, and that was massive and active.

People can reuse old character accounts on LJ, since, well, most people there have been playing there for a while and have accumulated a stack. All of the RP resources are over there - anoncomm (say what you will about it, but it definitely has its purposes), hmd_me, listing sites, dear_mun (I know DW had a dear_mun, but didn't it fail?), the works.

But yeah. I am totally all for moving to LJ.

I'm not bothered either way, frankly; I'll follow you guys regardless. XD But I do think you'll be able to grow the game more over there, and I want us to have a stronger cast and more momentum to hold us through the downtimes.

I have no problems with the idea of a move whatsoever, although honestly I'm not sure how committed I am personally to remaining in the game right now. >> Activity slacked off so much around November, and it never really seemed to pick up again...and between being busy with Mayfield, and having a game of my own I'm trying to make, by the time I came back for the Pokeswitch event, I found that no one had posted there for weeks(and there hadn't been many posts to begin with), which made me feel like I'd just be wasting my time replying there at all. :/

Part of my inactivity is partially my own fault, since I joined a prose game - which I've come to realize I'm always slow with - with Jade, who's very demanding for me to write. But the upshot is that I don't know whether or not I should just drop. :/ I haven't bothered making a decision yet because the game's so inactive that I'm not really under pressure to make the call, but...

I'll admit, I'll follow Bohren regardless. But I really don't like LJ. Every LJ RP I've been in I've ended up idling out of, and while I could probably handle it since I've been here since the beginning...

Looking at the main other Pokemon RP over there and how freaking HUGE it's become, it's. Well. A massive, massive turn-off for me. I hate big games. I like being able to know people and chat. My main fear is Bohren will get that big. I know we definitely need new meat here, but yeah.

Whichever way it goes, I'll follow, but that's my two cents about it.

That and I haven't got journals for Akgi over there. You know how hard it is to get good names? XD

I'll go where Bohren go no matter what, honestly. Moving to LJ would be pretty convenient for me but I'm concerned about things.

Still, even if it does move to LJ, I sort of worry for it. Because we'd be moving to a more mainstream place for RP, we'd probably get a lot more people coming in and then the game would expand until it might get too big for me to be comfortable in. (Yes, I'm more of a smaller to medium sized game.)

I left LJ for several reasons (most of them personal), and except for the occasional prompt meme where I can be anonymous, I don't plan on going back. Admittedly, I have been terribly inactive during the holidays and the beginning of the semester anyway, so this probably doesn't hold a lot of weight, but I would simply not feel comfortable returning to the site. I completely understand the reasoning though--a mod's gotta do and all that, to keep the game running.

Would you consider maybe going back under a sockpuppet or something? Or just not having a personal account and just using your game ones. I know plenty of people who do that, and it's generally not a problem.

Since it does seem like the majority is for moving, I'd miss you if you didn't come with us :(

Moving to LJ would be easier for me, definitely.
