Out of Character: Bohren RPG

Hello Bohren Trainers!

beansalad and I have been thinking, and we've also discussed with a couple players the possibility of moving the game to LiveJournal. Despite my fundamental disagreement with their business practices and the way they treat their customer base, the bald fact of it is that LiveJournal is where the role-players are. Here's what we're thinking we'll do.

- All the Bohren communities will be re-created over on LiveJournal. We will not be starting the game over. I know a lot of you are very fond of your CR and it doesn't make sense to hit the reset button just because the place we're playing has changed.

- We'll put up one post in the log comm and one post in the channel comm that has a directory of all old posts, for backreading purposes.

- Once we get everything up, we'd like for you guys to re-post your applications, just to see who's still here and who we've lost. You're already in the game so it's not re-applying, just posting everything in one place so we can make sure the taken list is up to date.

We would like a yea or nay from you before we go forward. While we think this is a fabulous idea (personal feelings about LJ's evil corporate owners aside), our primary concern is that you are having fun playing here.

Comment with Yea or Nay in the subject line. You can explain your answer if you want, but really this is just a way to do a poll without a paid account.

What? We've totally been here the entire time! You guys are CRAZY.

Anyway, now that Nanowrimo is completely over and everyone has had a few days to recoup, I'd like to take a moment to congratulate anyone and everyone that attempted this year! Both of your LOVELY Mods actually reached the 50,000 goal (and got some bad ass novels out of it). And I know a few of our players also reached the mark, so CONGRATZ! To those that didn't, we are still so happy that so many of our players took the time to actually attempt it. It was a great ride BUT NOW IT'S TIME TO GET BACK TO BUSINESS.

Where we last left off, team rocket stole one Pokemon FROM EVERYONE. Then Mew came along and switched our BRAINS. So now your Trainers are in Pokemon bodies and vice versa. The thread is going to have two options, either for your Trainer!Pokemon or your Pokemon!Trainers. Take your pick. This event will be considered the November event.

In relation to Sheercliff, keep an eye out for a thread on Monday regarding the Badge/Gym Leader challenges and the like. We know everyone and their Mom is probably tired of being in Sheercliff, and we'd like get everything moving a long as quickly as possible.

Hi, members! For the better part of today, I've been editing the tagging system we use in the community, and I'm happy to say that we're mostly all organized now! Hooray!

If you'd like to comb back through the community and check to make sure I've gotten your character tagged in all posts, feel free. I'm about to set the permissions so that anyone can edit tags on any post - that way they can add their characters as they comment.

Here's the new system.

Your character has their own tag. Please tag all posts with your character's name.
Pokemon journals please use the pokemon tag category. For instance, speedblitz's tag is pokemon: blitz. For pokemon who don't have a nickname, for example Skyler's azumarill, the tag would be pokemon: skyler's azumarill.

!open and !closed are in use in the main community, bohren_rpg. The !locked tag has been implemented for bohren_trainers. Additionally, if you'd like to keep your post open to only a specific group of people, use !open: group tags. for example, a post where only gym leaders are allowed to comment is tagged !open: gym leaders.

!battle is used to indicate that a pokemon battle took place in the log.

!location tags are now used to describe where the log takes place. Use !location: sheercliff if your characters are posting in that city, or !location: sheercliff gym if they're at the gym.

!route is the tag we use when we're traveling between cities.

!gym challenge and !tournament are fairly self-explanatory. There will also be !plot and !event tags in the future.

Tagging your posts makes them easier for everyone to find, so I hope you'll take advantage of the new system!

Sheercliff Town is another outstanding marvel of man versus nature. The Town itself is built into the large stone cliffs over the ocean. Rock and Fighting type Pokemon are by far the most popular types here, as most of them were used to create the town itself. While the larger buildings are on top of the actual cliff, a good 70% are on the actual cliff face. The only way to reach them is to brave Rope ladders, using Pokemon that use the move Rock Climb (which can be provided to trainers at the Sheercliff Pokemon center) or long and tedious stairways built inside the cliffs. which take hours to climb. It can also be assumed that Pokemon that can fly can also be used as transport up and down the cliff face.

The people of Sheercliff are kind hearted, filled with respect for nature, Pokemon and each other, and are by far the most disciplined of all. The town itself is built around the Sheercliff Dojo, which over 80% of the towns population attends on a day to day basis. The only reason most people live in the town it to attend classes there. Because of this, the town has thrived and caused the area to boom with success.

The Sheercliff Dojo is located directly on top of the Cliff. It Over looks the vast oceans on one side and on the other the magnificent Bohren Mountains. There are various classes people and Pokemon can attend either separately or together. Bells ring thirty minutes before sunrise and thirty minutes before sunset as a reminder of the popular classes are about to begin. The Morning classes take place on top of the cliff, outside the Dojo and evening classes take place within the Dojo, which has run for centuries. The leader of which has vanished...

There is not a lot to do in Sheercliff, except attend Dojo classes. Which is good because to challenge the Sensei, one must attend as many classes as possible. You must gain respect from him to accept your challenge. Gym challenge take place only after dark. Many trainers have had to stay in the town for weeks just to be able to attempt to challenge him. The next tournament does require his badge, and his only. So best of luck.

Hopefully he will return soon, for now, the Pokemon center is located at the heart of the cliff face, so don't think you can avoid just staying on the tops of the town! Sheercliff is now open.

For those of you guys who do not stalk the Pokemon websites like your lovely game obsessed mods: The Black and White Pokemon have been fully released!!!!

It is very exciting, we have 153 brand new Pokemon bringing the number all the way up to 649 (:o) so take a look! Enjoy! Discuss your favorites here! Keep in mind Bohren does not have any Issuh Pokemon in it, but expect something exciting when B&W release in the States.

EDIT: Another awesome update. In B&W you can obtain Pokemon in a place called the Dream World with different abilities. This is going to change a LOT about how we battle when it releases. Most Pokemon are getting a face lift and will become much more useful in competitive gameplay

Dream World Abilities

If you don't know what all the abilities are, here is a full list of current abilities. Some have not been added as they are new abilities and we still aren't sure what they do!

When the abilities are available for selection in Shoddy we will have an event that will allow you to change your Pokemon's abilities, for now, start planning if you do want to change or just oogle at the majesty of the awesome things to come!

Quakesberg itself is a complete architectural wonder. So, of course, Route 293 is another amazing feat in itself. Expanding on the already amazing cave system, Route 293 is, also, completely underground. Dugtrio and Onix were used to cut through the path, along with help from other ground type pokemon. Before there was no way to reach Sheercliff from Quakesberg, except by air, water or to go around the mountains completely.

The world above 293 has rarely been visited by humans because of the horrendous and almost inhospitable terrain. Fighting type Pokemon visit this area to train themselves and usually find ways into the Route below. Rumors are that Growlith and Vulpix live in large packs in the terrain above and have been spotted from time to time within the caves. Members of the Sheercliff Dojo attempt to train in the terrain above with their Pokemon.

Toward the last stretch of the route, the cave goes under the rivers that run down from the mountains. Large waterfalls and underground rivers can be found here as well. Fishing pools can be rented here at a small shack for nearly nothing.

All Pokemon may be caught here, Vulpix is a RTF protected Pokemon, these Pokemon may be captured, but it is reminded that one will need to contact a RTF agent to register the Pokemon.

Points of Interests:
-Regigigas Shrine: During the excavation of Route 293, a shrine dedicated to Regigigas was found toward the southern end of the tunnel. Many researchers are usually found around this area trying to decode the ancient text carved into the caves. Many wonder if ancient civilizations once inhabited the cave system or if tribes from Sinnoh came this far to create the shrine. It is a protected area and tours are given daily through the shrine and elaborate temple built behind it.
-Stone Tunnel Dig: Although the Route 292 fossil dig is the most popular, the Route 293 is by far the most spectacular. For a small fee trainers may grab a pick and hard hat and explore the Stone Tunnel. While many of the Evolutionary Stone tunnels are closed for private business, a large maze of tunnels and caves are opened to trainers for a fee. Anything found in the tunnel systems can be found here, stones, fossils, items and plates. Any fossils used in the Quakesberg tournament can be found here. At the office area before the tunnel, researchers have set up a restoration machine so that diggers can restore their new found fossils on the spot! The price is a little more expensive than the 292 Fossil Dig, but it is well worth it!

Tomorrow is the last day for sign ups for the Quakesberg Tournament. If you have not already put in your character application for the tournament, please do so before Midnight CST tomorrow, August 20th, we will not accept applications past that time.

Also! Since the Fissure badge IS required to enter the tournament, when your character receives said badge, please comment on your characters application, just so we can keep track in who has succesful obtained the badge (Gym Leaders, please just comment "Not Required" below your character applications). If your character is in the middle of a battle or you are working with quakekid on a rematch to receive your badge, please comment here to let us know.

The Tournament thread will be posted within the next few days. We will first post your characters Pokemon for the tournament (which will be chosen at COMPLETE random), give you a few days to thread for training and or hilarity, etc etc., then we will post the Tournament bracket and thread.

Quakeburg is an underground city, meaning that its vast supports hold up the cavernous ceiling. These supports are very important, so shops and houses are usually built with their backs to them, diminishing the risk that they're damaged.

Lanterns are everywhere, strung across walkways from the supports, and most of the houses are built with a flat-roofed design, meaning that there's another level of the city above street level. The streets are always busy, and Quakeburg boasts some of the best nightlife anywhere - mostly because it's always night here.

The northern part of the city is littered with mines, producing fossils and evolutionary stones. There are plenty of museums and scientific research centers in the area, and there may be many more fossils here than you've seen in other regions!

The Gym, of course, is the staging ground for this city's tournament. It'll be busy with challengers up until the start of the tournament, since this time there's a badge required before you can participate.

The first travel log has been posted! This is self explanatory, we're hitting the road for Quakesberg. The Lumeloch tournament isn't over yet but it's going to take some time, so we might as well hit the road!

Welcome to our newest editions as well. A reminder to our "Beginning" trainers, If you want to add any of the catchable pokemon to your team, go ahead and run a post. Feel free to make traveling groups as well!

Another reminder: a few of you guys have gone pretty silent. No worries, we are pretty laid back here but please just let us know if you'd like to go on Hiatus or slowatus, just so we know :)

So! Things have gotten a little quiet around here. Both farasha and myself have been super busy for the past few weeks so I apologize for the silence. Next week we are going to start the Lumeloch Tournament! If you have any questions/comments/concerns/cookies, please just comment here and we can discuss.

I also want to make a note that we have both decided that we are going to open up Gym leader positions. Since only two are taken, we have five that are up for grabs! If anyone wants to play Hazel, the Grass-gym leader, you would be my NEW BFFOMGWTFBBQ!!! Anyone that wants to app fandom/OC gym leaders just need to fill out the application and post it. Just tell us what spot you are wanting and fill out the appropriate information.
